Below is a list of resources for anyone interested in SEO.

Paid Tools

These are the tools you will need to better understand your website. These tools range in functionality and I use them whenever I work with big ticket clients.

SEMRush – I primarily use SEMRush for keyword research. I’ve noticed that SEMRush tends to have better keyword data than other tools. This is based on my own experience, not large data sets. I compared impression data with SEMrush’s keyword data and came to this conclusion on my own. SEMRush gives users access to lots of tools, not just SEO ones. You can find tools to assist with SEO, Paid Search, Social, Email, Reporting, Competitor Research, etc.

Ahrefs – As the name suggests, Ahrefs is all about links! Ahrefs is a critical tool for anyone who is trying to execute link building or better understand their or their competitor’s backlink profiles. Ahrefs can do many other things, but I primarily use it for link data.

Screaming Frog – This tool is a crawler, an agent that can go to any website and retrieve huge amounts of data about the site. This tool is critical for SEO audits, and unveiling technical and content related SEO issues.

Free Tools

Google Search Console – Search Console helps webmasters understand how Google perceives their site. This tool is critical for indexing your site and understanding how your site performs in Google Search.

Google Analytics – This tool gives you in-depth data on how users interact with your site. Whether you run a ecommerce, lead gen, or content site, this tool is critical for understanding how your site performs with its intended visitors.

Google Keyword Planner – Use this tool if you want to know more about how often keywords are searched. You can view my guide on How to Use Google Keyword Planner for Keyword Research.

Guides and Learning

Learningseo.io – This website is run by Aleyda Solis. Right now I believe this is the best resource for anyone who wants to learn about SEO, beginner to advanced. The site provides a roadmap that anyone can follow to learn or advance their SEO knowledge.
